Peter Lerwill 2004 |
|
Our member, Peter Lerwill, died in hospital on the 26th February 2004 following a long illness. Peter was active in many areas of City life having membership of Aldgate and Bridge Ward Clubs as well as Cripplegate. He was involved and active with the Royal Society of St. George City of London Branch, the City Livery Club, a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Insurer. In 2003 he was Master of the Worshipful Company of Plumbers. Peter had been a very good supporter of our Club and members will long remember a lovely evening spent at his wonderful 18th century house in Spitalfields which he very generously opened to for a Club function. His funeral took place on Thursday, 11th March at 11.00 a.m. at the Church of St. Michael's Cornhill. Mourners gathered afterwards at Painters' Hall, 9 Little Trinity Lane, EC4. There were no floral tributes but donations were received in aid of The Prostate Research Campaign (UK), 36 The Drive, Northwood, Middlesex. HA6 1HP. A Service of Thanksgiving for Peter's life is planned for a little later this Spring, in the City. Hon. Secretary |

The Club Records for the years prior to 1959 have been lost. Most of the books vanished for ever during the War years. You will notice there are huge gaps in the records. Although some information has been gathered from the senior Club members and from the descendants of former Masters it has proved impossible to be sure of all who occupied the Chair in many of these earlier years. The official and social activities of the Club during those years are also lost to us. |
