Master 1960 - Henry Charles Hasell Beecroft

H C Hasell  Beecroft                -                Peter R Beecroft

This information has been sent to us by Mr Henry Beecroft's daughter-in-law, Mrs Peter Beecroft.  The Club is most grateful for this addition to our history.
Mr Beecroft joined Cripplegate Ward Club before the last war.

Prior to that he had served as a Captain with the ASC during the war of 1914-18.

His old school was the Leas, Cambridge.  He became a valuer with Beecroft Sons & Nicholson in Wood Street.  The firm was bombed during the war and moved afterwards to Weymouth Street W1.  It is said that in order to retain a City address during all the destruction of the war years he rented part of a friend's house in Cripplegate.

After the Blitz he became a Common Councillor for Cripplegate.

Mr Beecroft died in 1967

His son, Mr Peter Beecroft followed in his footsteps and became Master of the Ward Club in 1968.  The photograph of father and son was taken in the late 1950's.

Return to the Master Roll

The Committee welcome the loan of items of historical interest such as photographs or  brochures.
All original documents will be returned to the owners.

The Club Records for the years prior to 1959 have been lost. Most of the books vanished for ever during the War years. You will notice there are huge gaps in the records. Although some information has been gathered from the senior Club members and from the descendants of former Masters it has proved impossible to be sure of all who occupied the Chair in many of these earlier years. The official and social activities of the Club during those years are also lost to us.

If anyone is able to offer any information, no matter how little, please contact us.
