Master 1968 - Peter Rowell Beecroft

H C Hasell Beecroft

Peter R Beecroft

Peter Rowell Beecroft joined our Club following the last war.  Numbers were very low in those days for obvious reasons and sons were encouraged to become members in order that the Club should survive.  Many of our Past Masters of this period can be seen to be sons or other relatives of former Masters.

Mr Beecroft was a member of the H.A.C. before the 1939-45 war began and served as a Captain during these hostilities with the Royal Artillery.  For part of this time he was stationed in India.

His old school is Launcing College
After being released from the army he studied and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and followed up this success in joining his father, Past Master Henry Beecroft, in the family firm, Beecroft Sons & Nicholson.
In our Club Peter Beecroft progressed through all the usual offices to become Master in 1968. The photograph of father and son was taken in the late 1950's.

In recognition of his membership and service to our Ward Club for over fifty years
he was appointed an Honorary Member in May 2003

Peter Beecroft had been in poor health for some time and sadly died in 2006 - Please see the Obituary Section

At the time of writing (March 2003) Peter Beecroft is spending some time in a nursing home, having suffered a quite severe stroke.  The whole membership of Cripplegate Ward Club send him and Mrs Beecroft good wishes during this difficult time.

Return to the Master Roll

The Committee welcome the loan of items of historical interest such as photographs or  brochures.
All original documents will be returned to the owners.

The Club Records for the years prior to 1959 have been lost. Most of the books vanished for ever during the War years. You will notice there are huge gaps in the records. Although some information has been gathered from the senior Club members and from the descendants of former Masters it has proved impossible to be sure of all who occupied the Chair in many of these earlier years. The official and social activities of the Club during those years are also lost to us.

If anyone is able to offer any information, no matter how little, please contact us.
