Neville Orchard joined Cripplegate Ward Club in 1973 and progressed through all of the usual offices until elected Master in 1987. A solicitor by profession, he was with Speechley Bircham for many years to become Managing and Finance Partner prior to retirement in 1990. Neville Orchard was a member of the congregation at St Giles Cripplegate and became the first resident of Barbican to be appointed a Churchwarden. |

| During his year of
office the Annual Banquet was held at Guildhall in the presence of the
Lord Mayor.
One of the functions during the year was a tour of Docklands. Supper was taken on a moored craft and when everyone was leaving one of the ladies lost her footing and fell into the water. Another lady jumped in to the rescue...... Happily both ladies survived the experience but it certainly gave everyone a tremendous fright. The Guest of Honour at the Annual Banquet was Alan McLintock. The Carol Service at st Giles was well attended and The Rev'd Ian McKenzie preach an interesting sermon on Launcelet Andrewes. |

The Club Records for the years prior to 1959 have been lost. Most of the books vanished for ever during the War years. You will notice there are huge gaps in the records.
Although some information has been gathered from the senior Club members and from the descendants of former Masters it has proved impossible to be sure of all who occupied the Chair in many of these earlier years. The official and social activities of the Club during those years are also lost to us.
