The Lord Mayor's Show from Guildhall

Saturday 12th November 2016

The Master welcomed another full house of Members and Guests to the Annual Lord Mayor's Show to watch, up close, the spectacle of the Lord Mayor's Golden Coach being harnessed to the six heavy horses and made ready for the Parade. We then saw the Sheriffs, their Chaplains and the Past Lord Mayor depart. Finally the Aldermen and Ward Beadles waved the new Lord Mayor (Alderman, Dr Andrew Parmley) into the Golden Coach and off on his way to Mansion House to watch the parade.

After enjoying the outward-bound section of the Show, it was time for lunch in the Members' Dining Room of The Guildhall Club . A slightly late start was followed by a glass of fizz and an excellent 4 course meal with further white and red wines.

Here are a few pictures from the day. Click an image to enlarge and scroll through.

Supporting Information prior to the event:

The Annual Lord Mayor's Show is traditionally attended by the Cripplegate Ward Club at Guildhall.

We will as usual assemble at 10am in the Guildhall Yard to see the Lord Mayor's coach being harnessed to the horses and then wave the new LM off to the Mansion House before watching the parade.

Lunch (at 12.15pm) will again be in the Guildhall Club, Members' Dining Room, catered by Cook & Butler.

For those wishing to pack a bit more into the day, arrive  a bit earlier and make your way to the Millenium Bridge. Stand in the middle and wait for the Lord Mayor's Flotilla to go past - due just after 9am. Hang on a bit longer and see the Tower Bridge open (about 9.25) in salute and all craft go through.

Then (if you have a Cripplegate Ticket) quickly make your way back to the Guildhall and be in place by 10am ready to see the Golden Coach being harnessed to the Heavy Horses and eventually wave as the new Lord Mayor leaves the Yard. After the Show and lunch, there is still lots to see and at 5.15pm the Firework display begins. The centre of operations is between Blackfriars and Waterloo Bridges.

"Please leave your car at home! The roads are all closed, the whole of London is clogged up and there's nowhere to park anyway."
